"When that 'little black dress' is not enough ... SHANGRILA!"

Photography by Dylan Litchman

Shangri-La's photographer, Dylan Litchmen, is also proficient in Tibetan language and Buddhist dialects. Several of his photographic works are on exhibit and we are planning a special photographic exhibit for him later this year.

Dylan's work is widely published in Diacritics, Johns Hopkins University (Spring 2000, Fall 1997, 1995), The Ithaca Times (Spring 1998, October 1996), and Pro Fusion (Spring 1996). He has been featured in many photography shows and exhibitions, including Jasmine's Café (2000), La Forza Café (1997), Cornell University (1996), and Fordham University (1988).

These images are of a traditional Tibetan stupa, or reliquary, overlooking the Hudson River, not far from Poughkeepsie, NY. This stupa is on land belonging to a kagyu monastery, Kagyu Thubten Chöling, founded by Kyabjé Dorje Chang, Kalu Rinpoché and now directed by Lama Norlha Rinpoché.

Stupas are said to be beneficial for all who come into contact with them.
